Basil

Basil

Basil is an awesome herb! You can't go wrong with basil, and I highly recomend growing your own, either on a window sill or in your yard because fresh basil is absolutely amazing! It blooms with little white flowers and if you brush your hand across it, it releases its pleasant aroma.

Dried basil is good too, but the tastes are completely different. And there are a bunch of different types to experiment with - sweet basil and even purple basil that is just beautiful.

Use basil for anything Italian, beef, pork, lamb, fish (especially tuna), shellfish, eggs, chowder, tomato soup, vegetable soup, beef stew, cucumbers, tomatoes, salad dressings, asparagus, green beans, squash, green beans, and wax beans. Just experiment with it - it goes with just about anything!
